Victorian Home Roofing Restoration

Victorian Home Roofing Restoration

Victorian Home of Elijah Thomas Webb

The Elijah Thomas Webb Home is one of the most beautiful and amazing homes we have had the pleasure to help revive. The 135 year old house was in need of new copper valleys, ridges, and broken stone slate replacement. We matched the slate and restored the roof to its former glory.

1700s Tile Roof in Holland

1700s Tile Roof in Holland

This 1700’s barn in Maastricht, Holland is on the National Historic Register and was completely restored in 1997. It is built of sandstone, which is assembled in blocks the exact same way it was quarried from the mountain. If you were to flip the blocks the wrong way, they would disintegrate. But following this age old building knowledge, you have structures standing for hundreds of years.

This barn was disassembled stone by stone, keeping careful count of where each block would go back to. Luc and his son Johan rebuilt the roof structure with timber and reinstalled the original tile from the roof. Here you can see the outer and inner structure of roof decking and the batten system. The whole restoration took one year and ensured that this building and tile roof will stand for a few more centuries.
